Dr Andrew Seedhouse

Andrew has been working in the Sustainable Transport sector for 31 years.  His career started in local government and the rail privatisation process.  He went on to lead the Transport Operations team at Plymouth City Council, with responsibility for bus, rail, and education transport.  He joined the FirstGroup UK Bus Division in 2001 with specialist areas including Intelligent Transport Systems, Smartcards, Partnership development and Passenger Information.  In 2005 Andrew was recruited by the Department for Transport, and was responsible for overseeing Local Transport Plan Policy and delivery in the South West of England.

Following the Concessionary Travel Act 2008, Andrew founded Smart Applications Management (SAM) – now the UK’s largest Member owned organisation for delivering UK Ticketing solutions, and owner of the National Procurement Framework. Andrew remains the Chairman of SAM, whilst combining this with the role of Director of Transport within the Sustainable Earth Institute of Plymouth University.
