Dr Zaki Ahmed is Associate Professor in Information Technology for the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at the University of Plymouth. Zaki's strong interest in power electronics has led to numerous industrial projects, including developing pioneering power technology that increases energy delivered to the grid via solar power. Zaki is Technical and Scientific Director of spin out company, PulsiV, in collaboration with the University and Frontier IP Group, which is developing the technology for use in new installations or retrofitted to existing solar panels, with the potential to supply at least five per cent more energy to the grid than current market leaders. The technology can be used to improve energy efficiency across a wide range of consumer devices, such as televisions, mobile phones and laptops, providing more energy efficient, sustainable options to the end user.  Zaki also has industrial experience in safety systems and reliability modelling.

Zaki has authored more than 86 peer reviewed publications and is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (MIEEE) and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET).
