Jonathan Derwent

Jonathan is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer, leading Hydrock’s Civil and Structural Engineering teams across the South and South West. Across his 20+ years’ experience Jonathan has delivered a diverse range of structural engineering design projects, from LEGO sculptures to international design competitions.

For over a decade, Jonathan has spoken out publicly on climate change, for industry bodies (IStructE, Constructing Excellence), clients, consultants, contractors and anyone else who will listen! Jonathan founded Hydrock’s Carbon Task Force in 2019 and is on a mission to persuade us all to change the way we view building structures and civil engineering infrastructure, minimising embodied carbon emissions and ushering in a new generation of low-carbon structures along the way.
