James Robb
James is a Senior Sustainability & Carbon Consultant within WSP’s Sustainability & Climate Change team, with 18 years of experience in the Built Environment, fulfilling the role of Senior Consultant for the past 5 years. He holds an MSc in Architecture (Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies) and is a Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT). He is also a BREEAM Accredited Professional.
James has developed an interest in the need for buildings that perform better – with lower carbon emissions, lower energy demand, higher comfort levels and providing a healthier environment for occupants. He has a wide range of project experience relating to the carbon, energy and sustainability performance of buildings, infrastructure & businesses including the topics lifecycle analysis, environmental assessment, energy use, sustainable materials and climate change adaptation.
As Senior Sustainability & Carbon Consultant, James’ current focus is on lifecycle analysis and carbon management, using his experience of multiple lifecycle assessments and his in-depth knowledge of technical building design. James has fulfilled this role for multiple clients. He has worked on a wide range of project types, scales and at all stages. This enables him to develop low carbon solutions from conceptual design to detailed specification which can be realised in reality.
James is also currently Carbon Lead for HS2’s newbuild stations in London and Birmingham, responsible for management of carbon during the design process and in meeting the whole life carbon reduction targets set by HS2, covering the topics whole life carbon, design for deconstruction, materials efficiency and climate change adaptation. Leading a small team in this specialist topic area to deliver targeted advice to the design team and guide them to meeting and exceeding client targets.
